Real Link Between Bad Skin & Depression

For the vast majority of people, bad skin is a major concern in their daily lives, but it is something that has to deal with, something that has to deal with and something that you just try to get by with the best as you can . However, for a growing number of people, bad skin can weigh much heavier on the mind.

A recent study has shown a link between poor skin conditions like acne, eczema and psoriasis and severe depression and even suicidal feelings. This feeling is especially prevalent among teenagers and young adults who feel a huge pressure to be socially accepted, and if the skin condition is ostracized by their peers or who does not believe that this is the case, the result is a growing population youth with fatal cases of depression.

A study by a group of scientists from Toronto showed a clear relationship between skin disorders and adolescents and young adults perceive self. The study showed that a large number of adolescents with skin problems (over 85%) of this group, most had feelings ranging from mild to severe depression.

One thing that most scientists do not expect to find, however, is that it has found that feelings of depression, even those who have suffered these milder forms of the disease, acne and skin. Most experts had estimated that only teenagers who suffer from skin diseases and other debilitating acne were prone to bouts of depression.

And this is not just a study based on the results. A 2006 study in New Zealand found even more surprising results. According to the survey, a surprising 33 percent of all teenagers suffer from acne or other serious suicidal thoughts at one time or another, and more than ten percent of all adolescents with acne have at least attempted suicide because they were convicted ostracism because of its condition.

Physicians participating in the study admitted that many teens feel that their acne was much more serious than the classification according to the scale said it was and I think this has led to the most severe cases of depression and other suicide cases they expected to find.

To say that these figures are alarming, is a drastic understatement. But not only suicidal feelings come from their peers, which could come from teens and young adults normal medications used to treat their skin conditions, too. A popular drug that has been on the market since 1982 has been associated with suicide among people who take it.

The drug Accutane, also known as isotretinoin was associated with 170 cases of suicide and an unknown number of failed attempts. This data, provided by the U.S. Federal Drug Administration can be extremely low, as they are self-reported, and we believe that the vast majority of suicides and suicide attempts are not reported due to the stigma surrounding that attempt or successful.

It is not known how many cases of depression and suicide can be connected directly to skin conditions like acne social ostracism and eczema. Teens and young adults are constantly in the hollows of emotional disorders and suicide rates among adolescents are generally higher than those of adults, anyway, but it's safe to say that the psychological impact of acne and skin young adults and adolescents is much more impact than most people thought .........
